What is Pilates?
Pilates sessions build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone by emphasizing a solid body core and aligning the spine, rather than repetitive bulking which shortens the muscles.

The eponymous Pilates is the proprietary physical fitness system of Joseph Pilates.  It was based on his observations of rehabilitation protocols during WWI; Joe noted that certain exercises, movements, and resistance enhancements were particularly effective in creating total well-being. He developed a methodical training system and promethean spring-based equipment to standardize these exercises.

Joe understood that fewer focused and disciplined movements, emphasizing control and precision of technique, were more effective than obsessive repetition. His revolutionary philosophy is that only an equally balanced approach to both the physical and mental dynamic of exercise provides total body conditioning.

His Pilates is based on these essential 6 Principles: correct alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing, and flowing movement; practiced regularly they establish a perfect working body from the inside out.

How often should I do Pilates?
“In 10 sessions you will feel the difference.  In 20 sessions you will see the difference.  And in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.”  — Joesph Pilates.

What kind of equipment do you use?
Pilates equipment available; reformer, tower mat, mat, wunda chair, and ladder barrel.
What should I wear?
Comfortable workout clothing
